What EXACTLY is Wal-Marts attendance policy? How often can we call in sick without penalty or whatever the hell it is they do when we call on too many times? I worked a lovely 11:30-8 today and started with a dull headache which quickly (because I didnt get to meds soon enough) turned into a firece migraine. I worked the rest of my 4 hours with this migraine speeding off to run to the bathroom to puke and get away from lights/sounds/screaming kids/beeping/annoying customers for a few moments but its noo good. If Im like this at 7am tomorrow Im thinking of calling in because I really dont want to work with a migraine again.

Im really not big on calling in, this is the most Ive called off at a job in years. But walmart is still fairly new to me (jobwise) I called in 3 weeks ago and this will be the third time in 2 months if I call in TOMORROW. Is this gonna be a probelm? Its gonna suck if I have to stick it out. 3 absences - a warning type of talk; 4 is a coaching and then it goes from there. Every 3 times you are tardy (our store it is 15 minutes - it used to be 10) or you leave before your scheduled shift is over (again, 15 minutes, used to be 10) and it is unapproved, then it is equal to one absence.

So without any call ins, 9 tardies/leaving earlies would be 3 absences. It is in a 6 month rolling period. If I call in once in January, 6 months from then, in July, it 'falls off' and does not count within those 3 allotted absences. However, it will show up on the evaluation. I had misunderstood this aspect and the store manager explained it.

So it's 6 months from the date you call in, not every 6 months you can have 3 absences. I spent a lot of time typing a detaile explaination with caveats and such. Then the internet connection upended. (Even asked my best friend Ast Mgr (not from my store obviously) to make sure I didn't type something stupid or wrong. First, last I checked, FOUR tardies are an absence. And the new total is 15 minutes for a tardy (it was 10, it WAS changed, if you log in often to the wire like our kind has to, you'd have had an update).

Three absences leads to a 'personal discussion'. That' basically a 'hey, you've called off a lot recently, what gives?' It's a 'sub verbal'. Then it goes Verbal, Written, D-Day, Fired. Unless you already have a coaching for something else.

Then it's like. I have a D-Day for telling a customer to kiss my ass.

So 3 days, personal discussion. Call off, fired.
