SOLD-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Up for Sale is one of the finest examples of a pure vintage amplifier! I have a beautifully restored Gonset GSB-101 amplifier. It runs FOUR 811A tubes for about 800-watts output SSB and roughly 650-watts CW on 80-meters. The tubes are JAN USA made output tubes and the rectifier tubes are NOS.
Here is what has been done to the amplifier to bring it up to modern specifications. This amplifier will run rings around any 811A amplifier currently on the market. The capacitor bank was replaced with a 2000VDC oil-filled capacitor at 15mH, the metering capacitors were replaced and the meter was re-calibrated to factors specifications. 
Two errors on the schematic were corrected and noted on your copy. The output tubes were replaced and burn-in prior to transmitting and the rectifier tubes were replaced with NOS replacements. The amplifier has been UPGRADED to work with modern, solid-state transmitters while still leaving the original set-up intact for vintage gear! How was this done? The 120VAC relay is now in-line and tripped by a 12VDC relay that is safe for modern radios. When the radio is off or the high-voltage is OFF the amplifier is BYPASSED!
How cool is that? It seems cool to me - but then again, I am easily impressed by simple feats of technical prowess. The physical condition of this amplifier cannot be understated.
It looks almost new. The chassis is CLEAN with no pitting or rusting - it even has the factory shine. The front panel is clean and virtually blemish free with only slight wear.
The case is very clean and shows only slight wear and a couple of marks near the back left. Hi, I've done a couple of Gonset transformer replacements. The first one was a GS101. I bought a transformer from Ameritron for a 811h amplifier. Stressmannetje het spel. The new transformer was less than $100.00. I yarded out the old transformer, choke,filament transformer, filament transformer for the 866 tubes,and the 866 tubes. All said and done the Gonset weighs 35 pounds less than original and works just as well. The other one I did was a GS201.
I replaced the transformer with a pair of transformers from a junk CB Maverick amplifier. I ran the transformers in series and they bolted into the same space as the old transformer. It was an easier conversion as the 201 had solid state rectifiers.
