Game Maker Blood Splatter Particles

Hello, I am attempting to make a gory, God Of War style hack and slash game, and I am having trouble with the blood part. I know how to make blood particles, and make them appear when I slash an enemy apart, but I am unsure how to make blood splatter believably on the floor and walls. I have researched a little on my own, and it seems people use 'decals' and projectors of some sort, but I am not very familiar with them, and I do not know if that is the standard way of doing things. I would be very grateful if some code examples could be written.

I agree, as much as I like permanent gore, I too suffer a nasty framedrop, especially when we stick in the same area and all the guts just pile up. Having some more gore settings would be nice. Like the time needed for corpses to dissolve and time needed for blood to fade away or even better, give players option to have current gore mode which gets cleared on every new wave (in fade mode, not instant disappear). That would be very useful. I mean, they do put a lot of effort and empahsis on gore, so adding more settings for it would make sense.

Originally posted by:I just did a quick test to see the performance impact of the blood textures. The result was negligible. Without blood: 145 fps - With lots of blood: 143 fps - The difference is so small to be considered, and would be non-existent on a weaker system. I'm positive that it's the corpses that give the OP problems. Sometimes when I aim down sight near an area with a number of ragdolls on the ground, my framerate dips a lot (even when those bodies are the only thing on my screen). Hi fellas Well im on a rather lower end Machine but i managed to tweak it to run fairly decent around 45-50fps average. And i can say on a lower end machine Blood Settings do make a difference (around 10fps).

Blood particles spew from your body when you take damage, some leave a splatter on the ground When you are hurt from an explosion, you will get dust in your eyes Screen auras that flash or pulse with different colors based on what hit you. Then check the adjustment for the 'H' Screw - test by placing the chain into high gear (largest front ring). If necessary, make adjustments and insure that the chain goes onto the ring without overshooting the ring, nor undershooting the ring (chain noise).

FX setting is the one that controls the Gore Detail Settings (amount of Blood, Gore, Particles and Corpse Amount) If you think youre struggling because of the Gore settings try to set FX Quality Setting to Low in the Game Menu and Test if your Framerate is considerably better. Download lagu geeks ft soyu officially missing you too. If its better but you miss the Gore you can tweak it manually and slowly raise the settings again to get the best compromise. Below you find all Settings that are influenced by FX Setting ingame (Left is Ultra, right is Low).

Gore related settings are Tagged with stars. ShellEjectLifetime=20.000000 (2.000000)How long ejected Weapon Shells stay on the Ground before vanishing. --------------------------------------------------- Remeber that you eventually need to set the ini to Read-only to prevent the settings from reverting. I managed to run the Game with Gore Tweaked, Textures High, all else on low @ average 45fps+ 1080p on a 250GTS! Which is a very impressive optimization from Tripwire and some small tweaking effort of me. If you have a similar weak GPU and want to know what Gore Setting i used to get the best Compromise, feel free to ask:) I hope you and other People are satisfied with my explanations.

If anyone spotts a mistake or has more accurate information, dont hesitate to quote and correct me! Its always good for Tweakers to have as much confirmed infos as possible;). Originally posted by:For me framerate dips even if there are no corpses.

Blood

Just those layers of blood seem to affect things quite a lot. And if there are actual corpses still there it's even worse. Rar It's not at point of unplayable, but I prefer things super fluid and when they aren't, they start to bother me. Well on a lower end the Performance impact from the Blood Effect is indeed noticable, i had to tweak it a bit for my 250gts. That being said im impressed what visuals and performance i managed to get with the minimum required Card:) If you have trouble see my post above and test how it runs with FX Settings low in the options, if its indeed the Blood that causes Drops for you then you can go ahead and Tweak it.
