Codex Tyranids 2nd Edition Scribd Login
I've been browsing the forums and reading threads regarding the validity of 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th edition. What I'd really be interested to know is how much of the other 'stuff' in the box is still worth hanging on to. I'm referring to the wargear cards and counters, dice, templates, etc. Obviously the miniatures are still usable (if a little same-ey) and I would assume that the dice required for the game haven't changed. The templates are upgraded to plastic, but have the dimensions changed? I've also got a fistful of White Dwarf magazines with Wargear cards and scenarios. Are they usable with 5th edition?

CODEX: TYRANIDS FAQ Errata Page 28 – The Hive Mind and Synapse Creatures, second bullet point. The second sentence should be changed as follows: Tyranids within Synapse range as described above (including the Synapse Creature itself) are not affected by the Instant Death rule. Ahh 2nd Edition. That was the edition I first remember playing in the mid-90s. I was hopelessly confused 95% of the time whilst playing it, but I was only 10-11 at the time and I had never played tabletop wargames with miniatures before.
How about the 2nd edition codex series? Have the army lists changed to the point where the old books are no longer of any use? I'm asking as I have had a 2nd edition box, along with Dark Millennium, some codexes, and quite a haul of miniatures in storage for ages and my Son has expressed an interest in playing. I really don't want to have to take out a second mortgage if I can avoid it. I've also got nearly a full complement of the 2nd edition Space Wolves Hero minis and a few squads. There's a ready made army there if they are still valid.
That seems to be the general consensus of opinion John. Most of the players have cited 2nd ed as the go-to version for skirmishing in spite of some glitches in the books. I was curious to see how much the equipment and squad stats had changed between 2nd and 5th in case I decide to cave in and buy that rulebook. I see that GW sell the templates and plastic counters separately now. Do you know if they replace the chits in 2nd ed?
How much of the 2nd ed set are you missing? I might be able to help out. That is one of the good things about the system. The equipment and squads actual statistics havent changed much over the years. Heres a comparison. 2nd Ed Tyranid Warrior. M:6 WS:6 BS:4 S:5 T:5 W:2 I:5 A:3 Ld:10 3rd or 4th Ed Tyranid Warrior.
(Dont have 5th, just played the few demos) M:6 WS:6 BS:4 S:5 T:5 W:2 I:5 A:3 Ld:10 No change. Pc roset kawasaki download movies. Same for Genestealers. The biggest change that I see are the Terminators. In 2nd they are just an equipment add-on to a regular marine. While by 3rd or 4th they are their own statted unit. Aside from that I doubt the units stats have changed much if at all from one edition to the next. The changes seem most to strategies and focus, Squads, champions, Blocks of units, etc.
