Caldera Dr Dos Iso Download

I just got my rig up and running on windows 7 professional. I wanted to get everything updated and I decided I wanted to flash the bios. I followed every single step posted on the web site, but I can't seem to get past the DR-DOS startup. I've tried both booting from CD-ROM and USB drive following the instructions listed on the website.

Both attempts gets the boot process started but just freezes on 'Starting Caldera DR-DOS.' I don't have a floppy drive so that is not a possibility right now. It's starting to get me very frustrated. Would there be a reason that DR-DOS would freeze every time?

Motherboard: x58 758 *hdd are in raid 0 *I'm using whatever standard bios the motherboard comes with. Unless you have a reasion to flash Bios, an unsuported processor, or componant, you do not need to flash the bios, In fact I recomend aginst it as a new user, Run your system and get familure with how it reacts with the BIOS you have that way if you later do decide to flash the BIOS you will know if it was an improvment, or if it caused a problem. How would you know if you wanted to go back to the old one, if you didn't know how the old one reacted. also the X58 does not have a back up bios, so a power glitch at the wrong time can brick a board, ( This is highley unusual, but possable, so it should be mentioned ) it's only happened to me once in over a year with two systems, but it took an RMA to reslove, which is why I suggest find out if you need a BIOS update, and then ' IF it's not broke, don't fix it. I do my Bios up dates when necessary with a USB Flopy drive, purchased from new Egg for less than $26; ( No DR DOS, No ISO's, no burning software, ) just download a file to a bootable floppy and boot, It's not that I can not do it the other way, but the more steps and complications you add, the more that can go wrong. Of course it's intirley up to you, so do what you want, just wanted to share my thoughts.

I normally wouldn't flash the bios, but there just seems to be a ton of fixes for the x58 motherboard. There are a couple of bug fixes that are listed in previous versions that I would like to have. Since they are known bugs, i'd rather fix it now then randomly come across it later when the problem manifests. Namely the jmircon updates and compatibility improvements are my main concern. I don't plan on overclocking this rig so all the other updates aren't going to affect me as much. Since I am building this for a friend, I wanted to have everything as up to date as possible. Maybe i'll just, strip a floppy drive off of someone and try that method if nobody has an answer to my dr-dos freezing issue.

Its most likely jamming up trying to map drives and devices that it doesn't have drivers for or initializing controllers that aren't set for legacy support. Some versions of Caldera work better than others from my experience, but yes you've stumbled upon one of the most annoying/frustrating aspects of working outside of today's GUI OSes.
